Everything couples ask
FAQs
Here are the questions we get most. Don't see yours? Ask us and we'll get back to you.
Where is Abram Farms located?
You’ll find us at 380 IN-43 in Spencer, Indiana, about 20 minutes west of Bloomington and an hour southwest of Indianapolis. A quick GPS tip: we’re on IN-43, not IN-45.
How close are you to Bloomington and Indiana University?
We’re just 20 minutes from Bloomington and the IU campus, making it easy for local couples and guests staying in Bloomington to get here while still enjoying a true countryside setting.
How many guests can we invite?
The barn comfortably seats up to 300 guests, and 300 chairs are included with your rental.
Is lodging included with my rental?
Lodging is available separately at Lakeside Manor, our on-site home that sleeps up to 20 guests. It can be added to your stay for $1,600 per night.
Can our wedding party stay overnight?
Absolutely. Many couples reserve Lakeside Manor for the night before the wedding, the wedding night, or both. With room for up to 20 guests, it’s an easy way to keep your closest people together and make a little more of a weekend out of it.
Where can the rest of our guests stay?
For guests staying off-site, Canyon Inn at McCormick’s Creek is just 0.4 miles away, and Bloomington offers plenty of additional hotel options about 20 minutes from the venue.
Can we bring our own alcohol?
Because Abram Farms holds a three-way liquor license, all alcohol and bar service are provided through us rather than brought in separately. Bar packages run $10–$25 per guest, depending on the package and how many hours you choose. We’ll help you choose the bar options that make the most sense for your celebration.
What is your vendor policy?
We have an open vendor policy! Our preferred vendors are listed on our Preferred Vendors page, but you are not required to use them. Our only requirements are a day-of coordinator and that you use our in-house bar.
Is a coordinator included?
A day-of coordinator isn’t included, but we do require one so you can relax and enjoy your day knowing someone experienced is keeping everything on track. You’re welcome to bring your own, or add our in-house coordinator for $650, which includes your rehearsal. Abram Farms staff will also be on site throughout your celebration to take care of the venue and property.
How does the rehearsal work?
Every wedding includes a 60-minute rehearsal at Abram Farms. Depending on the season and our event schedule, yours may take place the evening before, the morning of, or up to two days before your wedding. Saturday couples receive first choice of available rehearsal times.
What happens if it rains?
If the weather doesn’t cooperate for a pond or lawn ceremony, we’ll simply bring the ceremony inside the climate-controlled barn. You’ll have a beautiful backup plan right here on the property, so there’s no need to change venues or rethink the whole day.
What time does the celebration end?
Music and guest departure are by 11 PM, followed by an additional hour for gathering your belongings and décor. Want to celebrate a little longer? An additional hour can be added to your rental. Rachel can walk you through the details during your tour.
What should we know about parking and accessibility?
Guest parking is available in our blacktop lot near the barn, with a walking path leading to the venue. Accessible parking is available right next to the barn. Our getting-ready suites are located on the second floor, so if you or one of your guests has accessibility needs, let Rachel know before your tour. She’ll be happy to walk through the property with you and talk through what will work best.
Will our guests need a shuttle?
That depends on where everyone is staying. Lakeside Manor sleeps up to 20 guests right here on the property, Canyon Inn at McCormick’s Creek is just 0.4 miles away, and additional hotels are available in Bloomington about 20 minutes away. If you’re considering transportation for your guests, we’re happy to talk through the options with you.
Can our pets be part of the day?
Yes! Leashed or crated pets are welcome on the grounds, so your four-legged family members can be part of your celebration and photos.
Do you offer a military discount?
Yes. We’re happy to offer a military discount as a small thank-you to those who serve. Ask Rachel about the details when you inquire or schedule your tour.
When will the barn be white?
Our new look is planned for completion by the end of March 2027, with a white exterior and expansive panoramic windows. If your wedding is after that, you’ll get to celebrate in the newly updated barn.
Can we tour virtually?
Absolutely. We offer both in-person and virtual tours, so you can meet Rachel, see the venue, and talk through your wedding plans from wherever you are. Just choose the option that works best for you when you schedule your tour.
What happens after we book?
This is when the fun part begins! A few weeks after booking, you’ll receive a link to schedule your first planning session with Rachel, where you can bring your ideas, inspiration photos, and questions. About 30–45 days before your wedding, you’ll meet again to finalize details like your layout, guest count, and décor. And in between, Rachel is just a phone call or text away.
How do we reserve our date?
Found a date you love? A signed agreement and 25% nonrefundable retainer will make it yours. Interest-free payment plans are available, or you can pay in full upfront and receive 5% off.
